Did you know that TEG provides free home energy audits for City of Ames residents? Here’s what you can expect from a typical residential energy audit.   The audit process involves two things: the site visit and the report. The site visit takes around an hour to complete. City of Ames Smart 150 Challenge

The City of Ames is using their city’s sesquicentennial to reiterate their commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability through a new program. The Energy Groups Attends City of Ames Eco Fair

The Energy Group exhibited at the City of Ames’ Annual Eco Fair. Each year the City of Ames hosts this fair for all City of Ames residents to educate and raise awareness of sustainable practices, and to connect residents with business who can help them lower their impacts through a variety of methods, from rain capture to goat grazing, energy efficiency and more. New Addition to TEG

The Energy Group has added a new member to our staff!  Kate Kennedy started this month as our Energy Analyst Intern.  She will primarily be helping us run the City of Ames Residential Energy Audit program.  Kate will be assisting with residential energy audits and blower door tests.  She is currently a senior at Iowa State University studying Mechanical Engineering and spent the previous year with the Industrial Assessment Center Program (IAC) at Iowa State University. USDA NCAH Green Team Sustainability Fair

In late April, Chad and Jesse represented The Energy Group at the USDA National Center for Animal Health (NCAH) Green Team Sustainability Fair in Ames, Iowa.  The purpose of the fair was to promote local sustainability and “green” companies to USDA employees.  Exhibitors ranged from the City of Ames and Boone County Landfills to local food coops.  The official mission of the NCAH Green Team is “to assist the NCAH Board of Directors in promoting environmental stewardship at NCAH through increased awareness, continuous improvement and employee participation”.  During the fair The Energy Group helped educate employees about energy efficiency programs [...]

Small Changes in Energy Habits Could Generate Big Savings

A few months ago TEG performed a plug load anaylsis for the Hunziker & Associates Realty office in Ames, Iowa.  We caught up with Carla to learn about her experience with the energy analysis process and impacts it had in her office. She explained that the office was concerned with sustainability and that she is on a committee (Ames Sustainability Task Force), and wanted to lead by example. Ames Creation Care Workshop

The Energy Group attended the Ames Creation Care Workshop on June 27th.  The Ames Creation Care Group is an organization of churches in and around the Ames, Iowa area.  Mary Jean Baker, an active member within the Creation Care Group, planned to hold a round table discussion about energy efficiency in light of the announcement of upcoming rate changes by the City of Ames electric utility.  TEG was asked to participate in discussion to inform church members about energy efficiency and the importance of getting an energy assessment.  We have been working with the City of Ames for several years to [...]

2012 Ames Eco Fair

The City of Ames hosted its 2nd Annual Ames Eco Fair on March 24th.  Kelly and his family represented TEG, showcasing our services and representing the Commercial Energy Efficiency Program for the City of Ames.  City of Ames customers can attend this free educational fair to learn about water conservation, energy efficiency, low impact landscaping, sustainability, and more.
