Affordable Multifamily Property Projects – East View Manor

The Energy Group recently installed free energy efficiency items at East View Manor, a senior, affordable multifamily property managed by the City of Des Moines. The energy saving items were provided and installed for free as part of the energy efficiency program for affordable multifamily housing. The program, sponsored by Alliant Energy, Black Hills Energy and MidAmerican Energy Company, also offers enhanced rebates for energy efficient projects such as heating, cooling, windows, insulation, and additional lighting updates. TEG Visits Adventure Lighting

  A recent venture to Adventure Lighting, a local lighting vendor, shed new light (pun intended) on the emerging world of LED lighting and controls. A staggering amount of coal and natural gas is burned every day to supply light to empty spaces. Classroom Efficiency Contest

TEACHERS: Are your students circus fans?  Are you interested in teaching your students about energy efficiency and sustainability?  If you answered “yes” to both of these questions,  TEG has a fun contest for your class! Des Moines Metro Area classrooms, grades K-5, are encouraged to submit ideas for creative energy efficiency or sustainability solutions for their classrooms or schools.  Contestants should not only present their ideas in a media of their choice, but they should also describe why energy efficiency is important for their classroom, school, and Iowa!  Presentations are open ended so as not to inhibit creativity and the [...]

Trash Bash 2012

On Friday, April 20th the City of Des Moines hosted its annual Trash Bash event in honor of Earth Day. Each year volunteers cover over 50 project locations, cleaning up trash and landscaping, planting, cutting trees from fence lines and more.  Trash Bash 2011 had almost a thousand volunteers and removed over six thousand pounds of litter, tires, and recyclables. To continue our support of this fantastic event, TEG proudly put a team together. The EPA named Des Moines Public Schools ENEGY STAR Partner of the Year

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is recognizing Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS) as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year this week! DMPS has put an emphasis on improving its schools through energy management and whole building improvements.  This emphasis has garnered Forty-three out of Des Moines’s 60 schools to be ENERGY STAR – rated, meaning they cost forty cents per square foot less to operate than the average performers. Master Builders of Iowa Construction Expo with Sal Giunta

Amber Wilson and Les Wilson attended the 100th Master Builders of Iowa Construction Expo on behalf of MidAmerican Energy at the Des Moines Events Center earlier this week.  During the expo attendees could expect “festivities planned to celebrate and pay tribute to the individuals who have a hand in building the buildings for the commercial construction industry”.
