City of Ames Smart 150 Challenge

The City of Ames is using their city’s sesquicentennial to reiterate their commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability through a new program. The City of Ames is calling for 150 businesses to participate in “Smart Business” or to take the “Smart 150 Challenge” to make Ames a more sustainable city.  The Smart 150 Challenge takes aim at improving the following sustainable measures:

  • Energy and Water Conservation
  • Transportation
  • Waste Reduction
  • Indoor & Outdoor Environmental Quality
  • Carbon Footprint
  • Community Engagement

By participating, businesses can take advantage of rebate programs and implement a business energy plan that not only saves money, but helps reduce our impact on the environment.  Ames Businesses that are interested in becoming a “Smart Business” can start by completing the Smart 150 Challenge checklist to see where they can improve on the above listed sustainable measures.

Once you have completed the checklist and know where your business stands, call Steve Wilson, aka “The Energy Guy”, with the City of Ames to request a free energy audit today.  An energy audit is a great way that we can help you to identify areas that you can improve your business’s energy efficiency/sustainability!
