The Energy Chronicles

Funding Available for Rural Programs & Projects

During FY 2014 91 million dollars will be available for loans and 10 million dollars available for grants through the Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant (REDLG) program. This program enables revolving loan funds, managed through local rural utilities, to fund and assist with projects that will stimulate the local economy.

These dollars would be awarded to entities that:

  • Have borrowed and repaid or pre-paid an insured, direct, or guaranteed loan received under the Rural Electrification Act or,
  • Be a not-for-profit utility that is eligible to receive assistance from the Rural Development Electric or
  • Telecommunication Program Be a current Rural Development Electric or Telecommunication Programs Borrower

These entities then pass on the funding to eligible projects. Technical assistance associated with a zero interest REDLoan is one example of an eligible project. Our Certified Energy Managers can help you determine project feasibility and provide required technical documents to meet program requirements.

Facilities and equipment for education/training to facilitate economic development or for medical care to rural residents is another example of an eligible project fundable via REDLG. Our team can help assist with these new construction projects, from design to implementation, through our construction management suite of services. By incorporating integrated design and selecting the most efficient equipment for your facility we can help you achieve optimal performance.

Eligible participants must be in rural areas, populations under 30,000. Have a project in mind? Contact Chad Kloberdanz with any questions.
