City of Ames Smart 150 Challenge

The City of Ames is using their city’s sesquicentennial to reiterate their commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability through a new program. The Green Ninja – Superhero Against Climate Change

Everyone has heard the phrases “give a hoot, don’t pollute”, “only you can prevent forest fires”, and “you gotta play it safe around power lines”.  Woodsy Owl, Smokey Bear, and Louie the Lightning Bug have all been effective mascots in public service announcements to teach children safety tips.  In the wake of a potential global crisis the Colleges of Science, Humanities, and Arts and Spartan Film Studios from San Jose State University have created a mascot to fight climate change. Indianola Sustainability Fair

Indianola Municipal Utilities hosted their annual Sustainability Fair on Friday, April 20th.  Every year, IMU invites the public to their line shop for a free lunch and information gathering.  Green vendors are on hand to exhibit not only their services, but environmentally-friendly products and solutions. Kelly, Emily, and Jesse attended the event to highlight our services and represent IMU’s Commercial & Industrial Energy Efficiency Program.
