Mayor, City of Ames, ISU Praise Local Businesses

Don Kom and Steve Wilson of City of Ames Electric, Merry Rankin of ISU, and Mayor Haila recognized six local businesses for their commitment and success in applying sustainable and energy efficient strategies during a ceremony at Reiman Gardens in late January. TEG wishes to congratulate The Loft, Duckworth Wearing, Fighting Burrito, Green Hills Retirement, McFarland Clinic, and Wheatsfield Cooperative for their efforts!

The EPA named Des Moines Public Schools ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is recognizing Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS) as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year this week! DMPS has put an emphasis on improving its schools through energy management and whole building improvements.  This emphasis has garnered Forty-three out of Des Moines’s 60 schools to be ENERGY STAR – rated, meaning they cost forty cents per square foot less to operate than the average performers. Energy Use Reimbursements for Businesses

Your operation may be eligible to receive reimbursements for energy use! Greenhouses, Farming Operations, Agricultural Production, Manufacturing, and Food Service may be able to receive Energy Sales & Use Tax Reimbursements from the state Department of Revenue. A portion of electric and gas usage for operations above may be exempt; this portion could be as high as 99% and could equate to hundreds or even thousands of dollars!
